When logging in to Social27's Virtual Event Platform on a mobile device, you may sometimes run into problems accessing your camera, microphone, and the event's videos. This article explains why these issues may occur and how to troubleshoot them.
WebRTC
A browser's (such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox) ability to access your microphone and camera is known as webRTC. This functionality is not related to the Social27 platform or technology; webRTC is the primary technology used across the web. This technology has been available on desktop versions of the Google Chrome browser for some time. However, older mobile devices and some mobile browsers may not behave like the desktop browsers because mobile devices share data and permission mic and video functionality differently.
We are constantly working to ensure Social27's video features are available to as many users as possible, and use technologies like polyfills to ensure our web pages are compatible with every device and browser.
We also allow you to connect to services like Microsoft Teams and Zoom for your video conference calls; these services have their own applications that live natively on your phone and don't rely on browser-based webRTC.

Troubleshooting
If you run into video problems, we recommend using a desktop browser to access video features like Soapbox and Social27 meetings.
Android Device
If you are using an Android device, tap the three lines in the upper right corner of your browser and select Desktop Site. Your event will reload and display the desktop version of the event site (not optimized for mobile).
Apple Device
If you are using an Apple device, tap the AA icon in the upper left corner of your browser and select Request Desktop Site. Your event will reload and display the desktop version of the event site.
